How We Are Different

Pacific Capital Team

The Pacific Capital Team

Over 500,000 people in the United States call themselves a Financial Advisor or Financial Planner. It’s difficult to know the difference between everyone giving advice. Pacific Capital is proud to be a unique privately-owned wealth management firm.  Here is how we separate ourselves from the crowd:

1)    We provide timely, unbiased investment advice and do so with the highest level of integrity and service. While most financial advisors receive commissions throughout investment transactions, Pacific Capital is not compensated for transactions. Our wealth guidance is tailored to protect and grow portfolios and not to generate trades and commissions.

2)    Our clients have the advantage of independent wealth management combined with the stability of a world-class custodian firm in Charles Schwab Institutional.  Schwab is a world class company with $1.7 Trillion in assets under management and serves as the custody and support firm for our clients’ investment portfolios. While we do not work for Charles Schwab, we appreciate the client-centered service approach, the safe custody of assets, and the low cost structure we can offer through Schwab.

3)     Over half of the country’s “financial advisors” work as brokers for an investment bank or a brokerage firm.  We are not owned by any such entity, giving us allegiance solely to our clients. We are able to draw from the best large Wall Street firms, without being pressured to sell their proprietary  products.

4)    Most advisors handle 300-1,000 clients, without regard to portfolio size. Pacific Capital works with an exclusive list of high net worth clients with portfolios of at least $1 Million.  We understand the complex needs of our high net worth investors and are able to give each of them more time and attention.

5)    The majority of financial planners only look at assets while failing to address client liquidity and liability strategies. Pacific Capital will address both sides of your balance sheet in our wealth management and use lending to make a positive impact to your bottom line. Many of our clients are successful entrepreneurs with diverse financial needs and we thrive on developing a comprehensive plan to address all of their needs.

6)    Financial advisors are often solely focused on acquiring customers to sell them a pre-determined investment product. Pacific Capital implements a goal-oriented process with consistent client reviews and service outreach. We are relationship based rather than product based.

7)     Many advisors attempt to lure new clients with the promises of high and unrealistic investment returns.  We define “successful investment results” as the attainment of our client’s financial goals.  Performance is more than simply a rate of return.  Each client is unique and our objectives go beyond just “beating the market.”  We develop and implement appropriate strategies to help clients achieve their goals with less risk.
